East Cobb UMC
Camping, Cooking, Community Service, Scout Sunday and Much, More!
Saturday, April 6 to Sunday, April 7
Mark you Calendars!! We have an action packed local overnighter planned! This is a really great opportunity to serve our Troop Sponsor, the East Cobb United Methodist Church, while earning community service credits, showcasing our scout skills, abilities and leadership, and having a lot of fun!
This is also a great opportunity for scout parents to be a part of the fun on an easy overnight campout. And for those parents that don’t care much for camping, we would love for you to join us at the 9:30 AM Sunday Service, where we will be cleaned up, dressed up and presentable to be part of the Scouting Sunday service.
This program was a tremendous success last year, and the Church really feels good about their support for us and the success of our program when they see us in full force!
This all starts by gathering at the Scout Hut at the Church at 10:00 Saturday Morning, April 6. The schedule, which is still subject to change at this point, is generally planned as follows:
· Saturday
Community Service –Cleanout the Smokehouse and assist Men’s Club to enclose the cook house and convert it to storage.
Pizza Lunch - Soda and Juice
Scouts Grill Dinner for the Men’s Club and the Scouts – Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Soda and Juice on the menu
Camping and Games – Camp Overnight in front of Church. Campfire. Honor Guard Practice.
· Sunday
Wake up Early Sunday to cook for the Men’s Club - Wear Uniforms – Cook, Serve and eat Breakfast - clean up and prepare for Sunday Service
Scouting Sunday - Scouts attend Scouting Sunday service, perform Honor Guard and lead Pledge of Allegiance and receive special recognition
Clear out the campsite after church lets out (around 11:00)
We will need adult volunteers to assist with every stage of the weekend, from Project Manager, to Grill Manager, to Breakfast Cooking Coordinators and assistants, To Honor Guard Leader. There will be plenty to do, plenty of fun to be had, and plenty of good food as a reward. Please let me know if you and your son intend to be a part of this program. We will also have a participants list go around the at the scout meetings.
For Saturday, wear clothes that you are willing to get dirty. For Sunday pack your clean Class A Uniforms neatly with your gear.
Please let me know if you have any questions or have a willingness to participate.
Your in Scouting (YIS),
Lee
