Troop 435 Calendar and Website

Good evening all!

In an effort to improve communication about troop activities, I would like to remind you, or point out to you that we have a website that is occasionally maintained with useful information.  If you would like to be a contributor to the website, we always welcome volunteers to contribute their talents....

Also, on that same website, on the right is a Goggle Calendar, where we do our best to make calendar entries for upcoming events.

Bookmark these sites!  Check them out!  Note your favorite trips on the calendar and make sure your scout and/or you are signed up to participate!

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Lee

P.S.  We should have some exciting news soon about upcoming planned events and trips.  You will eventually get the details via e-mail, but may preview some of them on the calendar right now....

Zenobles Farm campout and activities

Our next troop camping trip is to Zenoble’s Farm near Macon.  Departure is scheduled for Friday, February 15th at 7:00 PM unless otherwise announced, and return is scheduled for Sunday around 1.  The trip is scheduled for the weekend of the 15th, but if the chance of rain is high, it will be moved to the following week-end.

The general plan for activities is Shooting led by Simon Bailey; Fishing Merit Badge, led by Scott Grant and Scout Skills led by other parent volunteers.

The scouts will be split into two groups and we will have a Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon safety training and shooting session.  Mr. Bailey is an NRA certified Rifle & Shotgun instructor, is a certified NRA Range Safety officer, a BSA Rifle and Shotgun Merit badge councilor, serves as the Range Officer and Match Director for the NRA Light Rifle program and as an Assistant Range Officer for the Youth Shooting program at River Bend Gun Club.   As with all activities involving firearms, safety is our first priority.

The other part of Saturday will be spent on fishing, advancements and cooking.

This Monday the scouts will be producing menus to be approved by leadership so that cooking is a bigger part of the experience than on recent trips.  Please take this opportunity to confirm that your son is or is not signed up for the trip and whether they plan to go.  Also, this is a great trip for the adults as well, and all parents are invited to be a part, so please let me know if you plan to go so we can determine how many adult drivers and riders we can expect.

The scouts need to bring $25.00 to the next Monday meeting and give to Mr. Bailey at to cover shooting and transportation and $10 to the food patrol leader for food expenses. The cost of food for the adults will be determined later and will be payable during the trip.

Please let me know if you have any questions,

YIS,

Lee
