Waiting out the weather last week paid off and we had a fantastic Winter Camp this weekend! Lots and lots of Roses, and very few Thorns! Everyone that participated was rewarded with nice weather and a great, activity packed program at a fantastic venue! Thanks again to the Zenobles and the Baileys and Jill for organizing the event to and everyone that came and participated and shared in the fun. We look forward to receiving the pictures and pushing them out to the website.
We also look forward to more great achievements, lessons and results this coming weekend at the Church.
This week we have a 21 hour, action packed program planned from 2:00 PM Saturday to 11:00 AM Sunday that involves community service, pizza rewards, honor guard practice, camping, campfire fun, cooking for and serving the church members, and being honored in a special service.
It is a program that will benefit tremendously from parents' involvement and participation with your son, and we can use as many adult volunteers as we can muster. None of it is hard, we just need helping hands. We don't need a lot of your time, just what you are willing and able to give. We have a lot of scouts excited and signed up to participate and a lot of great goals to make this a truly wonderful and memorable experience, and because of the scope of what we hope to achieve, we could use all the parent volunteers we can muster!
For this Saturday, starting at 2:00, we could use 9 adult volunteers to guide the scouts on one of six mini-projects. Most of these mini-projects will take the scouts less than 30 minutes to accomplish. We can pare back to as few as 6 adults to stay the night and help with the morning events, but there is no harm in having more. There is a lot to do in a short time frame. We have a pretty good game plan and coordination, and the less any one adult has to do, the more effortless the whole event becomes. We had almost a dozen adults travel 120 miles this weekend to participate, so how many can we get to join us in their back yard for a local one-nighter?? It is practically guaranteed to be a great time!
Here are the roles and timing that we have available for your involvement. Please pick a role or two (or three) that you would like to volunteer for and let me know by Tuesday, at which point we can see if there are any the remaining positions available:
