Saturday is Camp and Cook - Plan to attend!

Please plan to attend our Camp and Cook.  This program benefits the Scouts and the Church, and will be a lot of fun to boot!

The program starts Saturday at 2:00 PM with activities all day and into the evening, then we camp out overnight, make breakfast for the congregation in the morning, attend services at 9:30, then pack up and out at around 11:00 AM.

Please plan to join your son if you can, for all or portions of the program.  It is proven that the Scouts excel when their parents get involved, and parents get a lot of joy and satisfaction out of seeing their kids excel!!

We have had a good response from our request for adult volunteers.  Thank you.  There is still some need, so I will send out an updated list of volunteer needs this evening.

Scouts, please plan to bring a tent and sleeping gear for overnight camping.  If the scouts can find tent mates prior to event, that will reduce the number of scouts bringing tents.

We are not yet sure if there will  be a charge for this event (for the pizza dinner and breakfast), but if there is, it will be nominal...no more than $5.

I hope this answers all of your questions so far.

Kind Regards,
Lee

Preparing for Camp and Cook (and Community Service) next Saturday!

Waiting out the weather last week paid off and we had a fantastic Winter Camp this weekend!  Lots and lots of Roses, and very few Thorns!  Everyone that participated was rewarded with nice weather and a great, activity packed program at a fantastic venue!  Thanks again to the Zenobles and the Baileys and Jill for organizing the event to and everyone that came and participated and shared in the fun.  We look forward to receiving the pictures and pushing them out to the website.

We also look forward to more great achievements, lessons and results this coming weekend at the Church.

This week we have a 21 hour, action packed program planned from 2:00 PM Saturday to 11:00 AM Sunday that involves community service, pizza rewards, honor guard practice, camping, campfire fun, cooking for and serving the church members, and being honored in a special service.

It is a program that will benefit tremendously from parents' involvement and participation with your son, and we can use as many adult volunteers as we can muster.  None of it is hard, we just need helping hands.  We don't need a lot of your time, just what you are willing and able to give.  We have a lot of scouts excited and signed up to participate and a lot of great goals to make this a truly wonderful and memorable experience, and because of the scope of what we hope to achieve, we could use all the parent volunteers we can muster!

For this Saturday, starting at 2:00, we could use 9 adult volunteers to guide the scouts on one of six mini-projects.  Most of these mini-projects will take the scouts less than 30 minutes to accomplish.  We can pare back to as few as 6 adults to stay the night and help with the morning events, but there is no harm in having more. There is a lot to do in a short time frame.  We have a pretty good game plan and coordination, and the less any one adult has to do, the more effortless the whole event becomes.   We had almost a dozen adults travel 120 miles this weekend to participate, so how many can we get to join us in their back yard for a local one-nighter??  It is practically guaranteed to be a great time!

Here are the roles and timing that we have available for your involvement.  Please pick a role or two (or three) that you would like to volunteer for and let me know by Tuesday, at which point we can see if there are any the remaining positions available:

Also, there is a volunteer opportunity for assistant project leader who can help me with some of the details, someone I can bounce ideas off of and get ideas from and help to make this a super event for all involved.
Thank you for your attention to and response to this lengthy message!

Please put Sunday March 4th 9:15 AM on your calendar - Scout Sunday at East Cobb united Methodist Church

We have a lot going on in the next two weeks, so I wanted to make sure this event did not get lost in all the activity.

On Sunday, March 4th, the Sponsor of our Troop, East Cobb United Methodist Church, would like to recognize the boys of Troop 435 in a special Sunday service known as Scout Sunday.  The Scouts attend service, in special reserved seating section, and perform Honor Guard duties and lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

The boys will already be at the Church Sunday morning as part of their Camp and Cook adventure.

We would like to invite the parents and Families of our scouts to attend as well.    Please put this date on your calendar.......go ahead......I'll wait.........got it?   Good!

The Camp and Cook program is going to be a lot of fun for the boys and will culminate in the Troop sharing some of our energy with the Church.  If you are not sure if your son is signed up, ask him about it.  Attached is the Camp and Cook Program so you know what kind of activities are planned.

Thank you for your support and for coming out to support our Scouts on Scout Sunday.

Coin Collectors of Troop 435 Unite!

Coin Collectors of Troop 435 Unite!

There are a lot of Troop 435 Scouts out there now that have had the Coin Collecting training course and have completed some of the other requirements.  I intend to be available every Monday meeting for the next couple of months to allow for all of those that have started the badge to complete it.

Have your scout bring their partially completed workbook and anything they have to be demonstrated for credit to every Monday meeting and I will start checking off their blue cards so we can start getting a little more focused on what is left to do.

Thank you for supporting your scout’s interest in coin collecting!

Kind Regards,

Lee B.
