Next Monday Boy Scout Meeting - Coin Collection Merit Badge Wrap-Up

We are working on Completing the Coin Collecting merit badge next Monday night.  In order to receive the badge, each interested scout must prepare for the class and the merit badge as follows:
1.      Print out the workbook (attached).

2.      Each scout should complete as much of the merit badge questions in the workbook as they can based on our last class.  (They should have been completing them in the first class, but many apparently forgot to bring them, and I do not have copies).

3.      Bring the partially completed workbook and a pencil or pen to the meeting.

4.      Find five of the same coin type (pennies, nickels, etc) in different grades of condition, from totally worn (poor)  to nice and shiny and very few marks (very fine) and three in-between examples.

5.      Find five different (state) quarters you have acquired from circulation

6.      Collect from circulation a set of currently circulating U.S. coins. Include one coin of each denomination (cent, nickel, dime, quarter, half-dollar, dollar).

7.      Do ONE of the following
a. Collect and identify 50 foreign coins from at least 10 different countries.
b. Collect and identify 20 bank notes from at least five different countries.
c. Collect and identify 15 different tokens or medals.
d. For each year since the year of your birth, collect a date set of a single type of coin.

8.      Bring all of the above, plus any other small collection or small piece of a collection (no more than you can easily carry and keep with you and watch over) and be prepared to give a short presentation to the class about this collection.

Thank you for preparing to complete your badge requirements next Monday!  It should be a great class if you prepare!

Please call or e-mail me if you have any questions.
